1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using StructureCalcs (the “Site” or “Service”), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Site. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and StructureCalcs.

2. Description of Service

StructureCalcs provides free online structural analysis calculators for educational and preliminary engineering purposes. The Service includes a beam calculator and a truss calculator, both powered by the direct stiffness method (matrix stiffness method). There are no limits on the number of beam spans, supports, loads, truss nodes, or members you can use — every feature is completely free.

The calculators include a built-in library of over 2,600 steel sections from six international standards: AS4100 (Australian), AISC (American), EN10365 (European), BS4 (British), JIS (Japanese), and IS808 (Indian). Users may also enter custom section properties.

All computations run locally in your browser — no calculation data is transmitted to or processed on our servers.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction) to use the Site. By using the Site, you represent and warrant that you meet this eligibility requirement. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4. User Accounts & Internet Identity

The Site may offer optional authentication (such as Internet Identity) for features like submitting reviews. If you authenticate, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials and for all activities that occur under your session. StructureCalcs is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to secure your authentication credentials.

5. User-Generated Content

If you submit reviews, feedback, or other content (“User Content”), you grant StructureCalcs a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating the Site.

You agree not to submit User Content that:

  • Is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, threatening, or harassing
  • Infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Contains malware, spam, or any form of malicious content
  • Is misleading or fraudulent

We reserve the right to remove any User Content at our sole discretion, without notice, for any reason.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CALCULATORS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

CRITICAL ENGINEERING DISCLAIMER: The results produced by these calculators are intended for educational use and preliminary analysis only. They are NOT a substitute for professional structural engineering analysis, design, or certification. All results MUST be independently verified by a qualified and licensed professional engineer before being used in any real-world application, including but not limited to construction, renovation, or structural assessment. StructureCalcs makes no representation that the calculation results are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular structural design purpose. Users are solely and entirely responsible for ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of any results used in their work.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL STRUCTURECALCS, ITS OWNERS, CONTRIBUTORS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SITE OR ITS CALCULATORS. THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SITE SHALL NOT EXCEED ZERO DOLLARS (AU$0.00). THIS IS A FREE SERVICE AND THIS LIMITATION REFLECTS THAT CONSIDERATION.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StructureCalcs, its owners, and contributors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) any reliance on calculation results produced by the Site.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, logos, trademarks, and functionality of StructureCalcs are the intellectual property of the site owners and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved.

You may use the calculators for personal, educational, and professional purposes. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the calculation engine, binaries, or source code
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any proprietary component of the Site
  • Create derivative works based on the Site or its components
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use StructureCalcs branding or trademarks without prior written permission

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Interfere with or disrupt the proper functioning of the Site
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or overload the Site
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site or its infrastructure
  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Impersonate any person or entity in connection with the Site

11. Third-Party Services

The Site displays no advertisements and works with no advertising partners.

The Site may also link to third-party websites or services. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these external sites.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia, for the resolution of any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StructureCalcs regarding your use of the Site, superseding any prior agreements or communications.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
