Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026. This privacy policy explains how StructureCalcs collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website.
1. Who We Are
StructureCalcs is a free online structural analysis platform providing beam and truss calculators. For any privacy-related inquiries, you can contact us at admin@structurecalcs.com. admin@structurecalcs.com.
2. Information We Collect
No accounts or personal information required. StructureCalcs does not require account creation, login credentials, or any personally identifiable information to use its calculators. All structural calculations are performed entirely in your browser — no model data, inputs, or results are transmitted to any server.
Local storage preferences. We store your preferences (dark mode setting and unit system choice) in your browser’s local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
Feedback submissions. If you voluntarily submit feedback through our feedback form, we may collect the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message content).
3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
StructureCalcs itself does not set first-party cookies. However, we use third-party services that may place cookies and similar tracking technologies on your device. Below is a summary:
| Category | Technology | Purpose | Consent Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Functional | Local Storage (sc-dark-mode, sc-unit-system) | Save your display preferences | No (strictly necessary) |
| Analytics | Google Analytics (_ga, _gid, etc.) | Anonymous site usage statistics | Yes |
For full details on all cookies, their names, durations, and how to manage them, please see our Cookie Policy.
4. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Remember your display preferences (dark mode, unit system)
- Understand aggregate site usage through Google Analytics (e.g., which pages are visited most)
- Respond to feedback you voluntarily submit
We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
No advertising. This site shows no advertisements and uses no advertising partners, ad cookies or web beacons. Google Analytics is configured with Google Signals and ad personalisation signals turned off, so it is not used to build advertising audiences either.
Google Analytics. We may use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic location. No personally identifiable information is collected. Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Cloudflare. Our developer API runs on Cloudflare Workers. If you call the API, Cloudflare processes your IP address so we can apply the free tier’s rate limits, which are counted per IP address. Those counters are stored for the current calendar month and then expire. Cloudflare also records aggregate request metrics (endpoint, status, response time) that are not linked to you. Browsing this website does not call the API — the calculators run entirely in your browser.
Stripe. If you subscribe to a paid API tier, payment is taken on a page hosted by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s systems and never reach ours. Stripe holds your billing record and customer account; we store only the identifiers needed to link a subscription to an API key, so that cancelling the subscription revokes the key. Stripe’s privacy policy.
5b. The Developer API and API Keys
You do not need an account, a key, or any personal information to use this website or the free anonymous tier of the API.
If you request an API key (for example a free Student key), you send us your name, email address, institution and intended use by email. We store, alongside the key record, a short label identifying who the key belongs to — typically your name, email address and institution — so that we can support the key and revoke it if it is misused or if you ask us to.
The key itself is never stored. We keep only an irreversible SHA-256 hash of it, which is why a lost key cannot be recovered and must be reissued.
To have your key and its label deleted, email admin@structurecalcs.com and we will revoke and remove the record.
6. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process data under the following legal bases:
- Consent — For non-essential cookies (analytics). You can grant or withdraw consent via our cookie consent banner at any time.
- Legitimate Interest — For site functionality, including storing your display preferences in local storage and serving the website itself.
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right of access — Request a copy of data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — Request deletion of your data
- Right to restriction — Request we limit processing of your data
- Right to data portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to object — Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Right to withdraw consent — Withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies or using our cookie consent banner
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@structurecalcs.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), you have the following rights:
- Right to know — Request what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or sell
- Right to delete — Request deletion of personal information we have collected
- Right to opt-out of sale — We do not sell personal information, and we run no advertising cookies. You can still decline analytics entirely via our cookie consent banner or the “Reject Non-Essential” option
- Right to non-discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights
To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@structurecalcs.com.
9. International Data Transfers
Our third-party service providers (Google, Cloudflare and Stripe) may transfer and process data in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission. Google’s data transfer frameworks.
10. Data Retention
The website stores nothing about you. Every calculation runs in your browser; your models, inputs and results never leave your device. Display preferences sit in your browser’s local storage until you clear it.
The API stores two things, and only if you use it. Rate-limit counters keyed to your IP address, which expire at the end of each calendar month; and, if we have issued you a key, the key’s hash plus the label identifying its owner, kept until the key is revoked. Ask us and we will delete it.
Third-party retention (Google Analytics, Cloudflare, Stripe) is governed by their own privacy policies and retention settings.
11. Children's Privacy
StructureCalcs is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at admin@structurecalcs.com and we will take steps to remove such information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
